Water Bamboo, Equisetum - Small

Equisetum is the botanical name for the plant known commonly as rough horsetail or scouring rush. Its ancestors were gigantic plants in Paleozoic times. The primary requirement for growing horsetail is abundant water. It will grow in sandy soil or clay but is most profuse in rich topsoil. It is happy to grow in part shade or full sun.

Whether you grow horsetail in the landscape or in a container, water it often enough to keep the soil moist. Depending on the weather, you may have to water it daily, especially if conditions are hot and dry.
